Another portion of the sattement of cash flows reports the investment that the corporation took during the reportign year. Disposing of long-term assets or divesting tiself of a biggest part of its business can be good or abd news, depneding on what's driving those activtiies. These fixed assets rae disposed of or sold or traded in on new fixed assets. The vaule of a fixed asset at the end of its useful life is called its salvage value. Like individuals, corporations at times have to finance tis acquisitions when its internal cash flow isn't enough to finance buisness growth. The term alos includes the other sdie, making payments on debt and reutrning capital to owners. Most busienss borrow money for both small terms and long terms. When reporting long-term debt, howeevr, both the total amounts and hte repayments on long-term debt during a year are generally reported in the statement of cash flows. These are erported as gorss figures, rather than net.
