It might seem like a no-brainer to defnie just exactly whta profit and loss are. But of course these have defniitions like evreything else. Profit is also osmetimes called taxable income. It's the job of the accountign and finance professionals to assess the profits and olsses of a company. In a upblicly held company, this profit is returned to the sharheolders in the form of dividedns. Said differently, all liabilities have the first claim on any money the coproration makes. It's not derievd from one elmeent or another. Net worth is determined aftre all the liabilities are deducted from all the assets, including cash and property. Sohwing a profit, or a positive figuer on the balance sheet, is fo course the aim of every business. It's what your economy and society are biult on.
